Commercial Vehicles

Tata Motors, the country's largest automaker by revenues, on Tuesday introduced the smallest vehicle from its commercial vehicle (CV) portfolio as it launched Magic Iris and Tata Ace Zip in the sub-one tonne category.

The company that opened the one tonne category in CVs in the country sees large demand for SCV (small commercial vehicle) category vehicles from the rural parts.

Commercial vehicles with less than one tonne payload qualify as SCVs.

To capture the rural demand, Tata Motors is running a pilot project in five states where it has tied up with different organisations in order to increase brand visibility of these products.

"We are currently looking at villages with not more than 55,000 populations. We are working with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), which runs rural empowerment programmes. We are also formalising a tie-up with IOC at village level to display our products at their stations. We are also in talks with e-chaupal," said Anil Kapur, head - sales and marketing - light commercial vehicle, Tata Motors.
