Tata Motors has launched its latest Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Kolkata. Aptly named Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect, this new-age facility can scrap up to 21,000 end-of-life vehicles annually. Operated by Selladale Synergies India Pvt. Ltd, it represents a major step toward sustainable mobility and circular economy practices in eastern India.

What Is Re.Wi.Re All About?

Re.Wi.Re facilities are Tata Motors' dedicated hubs for the safe, eco-friendly and fully digital dismantling of end-of-life vehicles. The new Kolkata facility - its eighth in the country - is capable of handling the scrapping of vehicles across all segments and brands, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars and commercial vehicles.

With dedicated dismantling stations for batteries, tyres, fuel, oils, and gases, the facility ensures that every vehicle component is responsibly processed. In a boost to environmental compliance, all operations are fully paperless and seamlessly managed through digital systems.

Sustainability Meets Scale

West Bengal’s first RVSF adds to Tata Motors’ growing scrapping ecosystem, joining other centres in Jaipur, Delhi NCR, Pune, Surat, Guwahati, Chandigarh and Bhubaneswar. Collectively, these eight facilities now have the capacity to dismantle over 1.3 lakh vehicles annually.

Speaking at the launch, Rajesh Kaul, Vice President & Business Head – Trucks, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles, remarked, “This facility marks another milestone in our mission to build a cleaner future. We're enabling India’s transition to safer, energy-efficient vehicles while creating employment and economic opportunity.”

Why Vehicle Scrapping Matters

Vehicle scrappage facilities like Re.Wi.Re are crucial to the Government of India’s Vehicle Scrappage Policy. They enable the removal of old, polluting vehicles from roads while paving the way for new, safer, and more fuel-efficient models. By recycling vehicle materials and parts, these facilities help reduce environmental degradation and support a more circular economy.

Looking Ahead

As Tata Motors continues to pioneer sustainable practices in mobility, initiatives like Re.Wi.Re reflect the brand’s commitment to transforming the entire lifecycle of vehicles. With a growing network of scrappage facilities and a future-ready mindset, Tata Motors is not just building vehicles - it’s rebuilding the ecosystem that supports them.
